Rock Wren
Box Springs Mountain, Riverside, CA
I decided to hike up the two trees canyon trail today in hopes of seeing migrants. But foggy/cloudy morning, which got worse as the day passed, meant no migrants. However, I was able to see a lot of Rock Wren family groups. Given it is a common bird up in the Box Springs Mountains, it is generally ignored. This bold bird got too close to me, almost at my feet, just little beyond the minimum focusing distance (1.4m) of my lens.

Northern Rough-winged Swallow
UCR Agricultural Operations
A foggy/cloudy day like today generally means low flying swifts and swallows. While there were no swifts around today, swallows were abundant. This one was perched on the barbed fence around one of the reservoirs that swallows love.
